AMC alum Josh Duhamel lands Tupac-Biggie murder pilot Unsolved

All My Children alum Josh Duhamel (ex-Leo du Pres) has been cast as a real-life detective in USA's true crime pilot Unsolved.

Big news for All My Children alum Josh Duhamel (ex-Leo de Pres). The Transformers actor has been cast in USA's true crime pilot Unsolved, which centers around the real-life murder investigations of rappers Tupac "2Pac" Shakur and Christopher "The Nototious B.I.G." Wallace.

Variety reports Duhamel will play the role of Detective Greg Kading, the real-life LAPD Detective who led multiple law-enforcement task forces investigating the two separate murders.

Unsolved has also cast Jimmi Simpson (Westworld, House of Cards, The Newsroom) as Detective Russell Poole, who investigated the murder of Biggie in 1997 and became convinced the LAPD was involved in covering something up. His findings, as Variety reports, eventually led Biggie's mother, Voletta Wallace, to file a huge lawsuit against the department.

Meanwhile, Bokeem Woodbine (Spiderman: Homecoming; Fargo) has been cast as Officer Daryn Dupree, who became a key member of the task force that had deep knowledge of both Los Angeles gangs and the rap industry in 1996.

The roles of Tupac and Biggie have yet to be cast for the pilot, which is being directed and co-executive produced by The People. v. O.J. Simpson alum Anthony Hemingway alongside his producing partner, Mark Taylor. Kyle Long wrote the pilot and Kading, who authored the book Murder Rap: The Untold Story of Biggie Smalls & Tupac Shakur Murder Investigations, will consult on the script and serve as a co-executive producer.

Duhamel starred on AMC from 1999 to 2002 and returned for a two-day stint before the soap last aired on ABC in 2011. After originally leaving Pine Valley, he went on to star on NBC's crime drama, Las Vegas, as well as in the films Safe Haven, New Year's Eve, and Transformers.

UPDATE (March 21, 2018): USA Network took to social media to praise Duhamel's performance -- and to share that fans can now binge the first three episodes of Unsolved.
